Indestructo!

We used to make our Black Tie and Chocolate collection wedding easel signs on foamcare. Very delicate stuff. Very vulnerable to UPS handlers. One time an easel sign was returned to us with the indentations of two 5-lb pails on the box. Crossed my fingers every time one went out. Brides get cranky so easily.

Finally found a virtually indestructible material to replace the foamcore.
Is it totally UPS proof? Nothing is 
. Will I be crossing my fingers less? Yes.  

2nd Wedding Vows

Jeri, a lovely member of our outside accounting firm, is renewing her marriage vows this weekend. Presumably with her husband. She wants a do-over because her first wedding was a drag –– alcohol wasn't allowed. Festivities include a barbecue, to which we're invited but unfortunately have to decline.

She asked us to design four custom art canvases for the event. They'll be displayed at the event, then hang in her bedroom forever after. Do you like their rather unconventional wedding vows? 

3D Baseball Cards

Don, the guy who reps for our  3D supplier popped in today. Showed me what's new in metal plaques. You never know; we might do metal plaques someday. We keep our mind/s open.

Don's company can print on sheets of metal. They printed a giant "baseball card" for each of the Minnesota Twins and the cards ring the upper tier of the Twins stadium. Yowza.

Don says his company is now focusing its innovation on interior applications of their products, where aesthetics is a big factor, as opposed to exterior applications, where the priority was durability. Yay.

Pity The Creative Director

I'm the owner/creative director at Wonderful Graffiti. Imagine how out-creative'd I'm feeling these days. I wish I would have come up with some of the great ideas for Graffiti people are sending in to our May wall wish contest.

Here's one from long-time client (and one of our favorites) Jamila Jenkins:

"Well, I just love type, which is what initially drew me to WG!  And I love all kinds of typefaces, with or without serifs, lights and bolds and everything in between.  So if I could have anything, and I mean ANYTHING on my wall, it would be this Periodic Table of Typefaces."

Oh, Lord, Jamila. Please don't take my job. It's the only one I have. M.

Go to this site right now. In case you didn't click on the link (silly you,) it's the site for LaurieL Photography. Laurie sent in a wall wish, which I'll get to in a minute. The signature of her email included a link to her site and I casually clicked it to take a peak.

Well. I...words can't...I mean...the peaceful joy on those peoples' faces... the beauty  of those singular moments. Photo after photo. Yowza. To quote a review on her site, Laurie  "is the best maternity  photographer out there." She has my vote. Should I get a vote.

Her wall wish idea makes it clear that her head is as talented as her eye. Here's what Laurie wishes she had on her wall:

Wonderful day today! I woke up next to the one I love. I saw and spent time with my children. I fed our pets. I felt the sun and wind on my face. Life is good. We are so blessed."

Darts Graffiti

The ideas we've been getting for our Wonderful Graffiti wall wish contest? The gamut. Touching, inspiring, dumb, lame, hilarious, boring, sophisticated, intelligent. This one's fun:

"Our basement is set up very pub-like with the bar and of course dart boards.  My husband is a huge dart enthusiast and one of the sayings they always say when they win a match they shouldn’t have is “I’d rather be lucky than good.” 

No one knows where that saying came from but I would love to have that on the wall in between our dart boards with   '- Author Unknown,' of course.

Wordle Wall Wish

"Wow- what a great contest- especially since I have had this big wall wish for awhile!

I learned about a great website called Wordle where you can create art from words.  Basically, you type the words you want in your picture in a box, and the more you repeat a word, the bigger it appears in your final picture. 

My idea was to create a Wordle of our family names with mine and my husband's last names being the largest, and then going back from there- like a freeform family tree.  What I like even better is the idea of having it made into Wonderful Graffiti so we can use it as the centerpiece for our sparsely decorated living room.  There is a space that is crying out for this very thing.

I love researching family history, and I want to incorporate the names and stories into our lives so they are never forgotten, and so my son will always know those whose love spanned across generations to bring him into this world.

ILYSMICS Wall Wish

My wall wish would be "ILYSMICS" because it's what my daughter has always written in my cards since she was a little girl.  It stands for I LOVE YOU SO MUCH I COULD SCREAM" ... she is a teenager now and still signs off her cards the same way but it really was a true expression of love for me when she was little and couldn't put it into words! ♥

Henning Farm's Wall Wish

Linda Henning wrote to say her wall wish was her family's farm logo with the words, Grow Gently.

I asked to know more. I got this charming response.

We are just a small family farm that has been in the Henning family for over 120 years.

"We grow corn, wheat, soybeans, and I grow sunflowers for cut flowers for florists.

I have attached an old photo of our sons and my farmer husband.

(He also makes beer from hops that he  grows.)

Pretty boring stuff, and so are my walls. :)"
